I don't feel like this was an especially great week, but it wasn't too horrible, either. I am still in the "stocking up" phase of couponing, where I am buying in larger quantities than we need in order to build up a nice stockpile of food that I can rely on. However, I was running low on a lot of necessary staples like milk, OJ, and pure vanilla extract, (with all the baking that I do, I use a ridiculous amount of vanilla. I really need to look into finding bulk vanilla online for a better price!), and Chuck has been begging me to buy some potato chips for his lunches for a couple of weeks now. Winn-Dixie is running a promotion this week that includes a free half-gallon of OJ, gallon of milk, package of pre-cooked bacon, and 12 count package of pop-tarts when you buy 3 boxes of Kellogg's cereal. I am pretty well stocked up on cereal right now, but I figured that since I really needed both milk & OJ, and since neither of those items were on any great special anywhere else, that it might be worth getting the deal.
Anyway, here is what I got:
At Publix, I spent $53.49 for $139.87 worth of groceries, a savings of 62%. My total should have been a little better than that, but the cashier didn't scan a couple of my coupons, which I didn't catch until I was home, and it wasn't worth going back for the sake of $4. (Granted, I had about a billion of them, but the way she did the coupons was very weird and confusing, and I will be sure to avoid her line in the future!)
At Winn-Dixie I spent $22.99 on $57.62 worth of groceries, a savings of 60%.
Overall, I spent $76.48 for $197.10 worth of groceries, an average savings of 61%. Combined with my Tuesday totals from Walgreens and Winn-Dixie (previous sale), this week I spent $111.23 on $356.19 worth of groceries, an average savings of 69% for the week.
Great job on your savings, you did better than me.
