simply photography online class

As my husband will attest, I am somewhat obsessed with photographs.  Okay, maybe more than somewhat.  I have an utterly insane and completely irrational need to document every single moment of my children's life.  If I had an unlimited supply of time, money, and babysitters, I would buy myself a super fancy camera and then go to photography school.  Not to become a photographer, but just to be able to take really great pictures of my family.  But given that the title of my blog is "living well, spending less," I assume it is fairly obvious that I don't have an unlimited supply of money.  Ditto for time and someone to watch my kids.

I love participating in blog hops and getting the chance to check out other blogs.  There are so many amazing and talented people out there, and it is really cool to get inspired by other people doing what they love to do.  A few weeks ago I cam across a beautiful photography blog called Simplicity.  On it, Faith, the blog's author, was advertising her upcoming Simply Photography: Basics of Photography online class, and I couldn't help myself.  I signed up on the spot.

In the weeks that followed, I started to second guess my impulsive decision.  Between this blog and my mom's group and the kids and the house and the upcoming holidays, my plate is plenty full.  Would I really have enough time to dedicate to an online class?  Not to mention the fact that my Canon PowerShot is hardly a professional-grade camera.  What if my pictures become the laughingstock of the otherwise talent-filled class?  I was on the verge of asking for a refund, sure it wasn't going to work for me, and then Faith sent out the first tutorial and assignment.

It was clear, concise, easy to follow, and definitely not overwhelming.

And to my utter surprise, once I started taking pictures, it was actually fun.

None of these pictures have been cropped or edited in any way.  I'm certainly not a professional yet, but they are definitely better pictures than I normally take when I am just pointing, clicking, and hoping I can crop or edit them later.   I think this may have potential.

Stay tuned for further class updates....
