feeling lucky (& wired whimsey giveaway)

I have to be honest, I am feeling a little stressed about Christmas shopping this year.  We have a lot of extra people spending the holidays with us, and my role as "Santa" means I have a lot of stocking to fill.

I normally love finding special and unique gifts for each person on my list.  However, the sheer quantity this year is stretching both my creativity (of which I have little) and my budget.  I am pretty good at stretching my money through coupon shopping, which means that Santa will be bringing everyone a variety of toothbrushes, lotions, & body wash this year.  Unconventional, perhaps, but those low-cost (or free) stocking fillers are always needed, and will leave room in my budget to find something truly special for each person.

A few weeks ago I was poking around on Etsy.com and came across a little shop called Wired Whimsey, which was full of gorgeous and totally affordable handmade jewelry.
Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind, and the hardest part is choosing which one to get.  I loved everything and i couldn't choose, so asked Christy Klein, the enormously talented designer of Wired Whimsey, which piece she recommended.

She told me about her new Pennies from Heaven collection, which she hasn't "officially" released yet, and I was hooked.  Each necklace is made from a genuine penny that has cut in the center with a symbol, and then accented with a Swarovski crystal.  The symbols include a dove (for peace), clover (for luck), feet, (for perseverance), butterfly (for kindness), heart (for love), cross (for Christ), star (for hope), & angel (for faith), (and the necklace is a steal at only $15.50.)  I knew there was one special gal on my list who could use a little sparkle and a lot of luck, so I chose the clover.

It arrived a few days later in a box so adorably packaged, I was almost afraid to open it.  But I couldn't help myself, I had to take a peek.  The necklace is absolutely stunning and so perfect, I am almost beside myself.  One perfect stocking stuffer down.  If only I could get this lucky all the time.

But I hope you are feeling lucky too, because there is more good news.  To help celebrate 30 days of Holiday Cheer here at Living Well, Spending Less, Christy is giving away one Pennies from Heaven necklace to one very lucky reader.  This collection is not even available for sale yet, (it is set to release on Black Friday) so you are seeing it here first.  The winner may choose from any of the symbols listed above.

  6. I don't know how to pick. I see so many things I like (all of which I'd get for myself). The Vintage Marbled Blueberry German Glass and Silver Adjustable Ring really caught my eye. And I do love that pennies from heaven collection... thinking of that for my SIL.

  19. I love the Antique Copper Filigree and Vintage Glass Bracelet. It's got the uniqueness that I look for in jewelry. However, it's also right up my mother in laws alley, so it would be a gift for her.

  20. Thank you for this review, Ruth! I've been looking all over for a "Mom" necklace for myself (initial charms and birthstones of kids) and haven't been happy with anything I've seen. I contacted Christy and she's going to make me exactly what I want - and for a fraction of what the other stores were charging!! :)

  24. There are lots of beautiful pieces and I can't believe what a steal they are! I think my two favorites are the Lemon Lime Swarovski Crystal Filigree Flower Lariat Necklace and the Marbled Blueberry German Glass and Silver Adjustable Ring. Certainly my sisters would love them. What a great idea about a "Mom" necklace, too. Thanks for letting us know about all of these great sites.
