girls who sew (& slo day design giveaway)

I have a really bad memory and most of my childhood is a bit of a blur, but I remember learning how to sew like it was yesterday.  The summer between 5th and 6th grade, my friend Sarah called me up, out of the blue, and asked if I wanted to take a sewing class at the local fabric store with her.  Up to that moment, I had never even thought about sewing, but I liked Sarah and it was summer and I had nothing better to do, so I said sure, why not?  We started the class, two 11 year-olds in a room full of middle-aged women.  It was on the top floor of an old, non-air-conditioned building downtown, and I distinctly remember the sweltering heat.  But we stuck it out and that summer and we both learned to sew.

My sewing skills have not gone far beyond what I learned that summer.  I can sew a straight line & figure out basic patterns, and over the years, I've sewn a few things here and there.  It's one of those things that I am happy I know how to do, but I'm really not very good.

Sarah, on the other hand, has always been amazing.  She is one of those rare people that not only has the technical skills to do things correctly, she has always had the creative skills to come up with her own designs.  And now, 20 years later, she is not only the mommy of the 3 most gorgeous little girls you have ever seen, but the super talented creative genius behind SLO Day Design, her own line of uber-fabulous baby & kid accessories.

As a mom to girls of my own, Sarah's adorable blankets, bibs, headbands, and hair clips are an addiction I can't seem to shake, and it doesn't help matters that her prices are far too reasonable (because we all know how much I love a good deal.)  Trouble has been decked out in SLO Day blankets, bibs, & headbands since she was born, and, I have to say, the quality is outstanding.  Thanks to the heavy-duty snap closure, SLO Day bibs are the only ones Trouble doesn't immediately rip off, & unlike the cheap velcro ones we found at Target, the SLO Day binky clip stays put (which is kind-of the point.)

Princess is now at the age where she insists on picking out her own clothes and dressing herself.  While some of her outfits are truly cringe-worthy, and I often wish I could carry a sign that says, "my daughter dressed herself today," it is pretty entertaining to see what she comes up with (Snow boots with a party dress in 80 degree weather?  Okay honey!)  She is also obsessed with her hair, and absolutely loves her Slo-Day barrettes.  She insists on wearing at least one (and often 5 or 6) every single day.

SLO Day's designs are always one of my favorite gift ideas, so when I started thinking about the holidays and gift ideas this year, it was one of the first things that came to mind.  What little princess wouldn't want to find her very own pack of fancy hair clips in her stocking this year, and what new mommy wouldn't be thrilled with any of SLO Day's other designer items?

So now that you are drooling over all these adorable items, are you ready for the good news?  As part of our 30 Days of Holiday Cheer, Sarah has generously put together an incredible His & Hers Holiday Giveaway Extravaganza, which includes some of her most popular items for both little girls and boys:

That's right, one lucky reader will win EVERYTHING you see--2 holiday bibs, a headband, hair clip, baby boy cones, binky clip, and 2 newborn beanies--over $60 value in all!
