hot deal: monday shopping 11-01-10

I hate shopping or running errands on Monday morning because I feel like it throws off my whole week.  I need this time to re-group from the weekend and get my house and life in order.  However, there is such a hot little money-maker deal going on that I couldn't resist venturing out for a quick Walgreens run.  But I gotta say, it was worth messing up my whole day!

Here is what I got:

So get this:  At Walgreens I spent $4.41 for $111.36 worth of groceries & drugstore merchandise, a ridiculously crazy savings of 97%! And as if that weren't good enough, I still have a $6 Register Reward leftover to use next week!

And if you have your P&G coupon insert from 10/10, you can do it too!

Here is what I did:

Transaction #1:
Bought:
 (2) Vicks Sinex
Coupons Used:
(2) $4 off Vicks Sinex (Proctor & Gamble insert, 10/10)
Total Due: $2.00
Get back: $5 Register Rewards

Transaction #2:
Bought:
(1) Zarbees Cough Syrup
Coupons Used:
(1) $5 RR (from Transaction #1)
Total Due: $0.99
Get back: $6 Register Rewards

Transaction #3, 5, 7....
Bought:
(2) Vicks Sinex
(1) Oral-B Cross Action Toothbrush
$2.75 worth of other merchandise (I bought raisins, eggs, cling wrap, & mac & cheese, but you could buy pretty much anything you needed or wanted for that price.  There are some good deals this week on tomato sauce, brown sugar, & powdered sugar that would work great too.)
Coupons Used:
(2) $4 off Vicks Sinex (Proctor & Gamble insert, 10/10)
(1) $0.75 off Oral-B Cross Action Toothbrush (Proctor & Gamble insert, 10/10)
(1) $1 off Oral-B Cross Action Toothbrush* (Walgreens November Coupon Booklet, found in store)
*for some reason this coupon won't scan even though it is the right coupon for the right item.  At both stores, the cashier had to price modify the item to $1.99 to make it work.
Total Due: approximately $0.35
Get Back: $5, $1 RRs

Transaction #4, 6, 8....
Bought:
(1) Zarbees Cough Syrup
(1) $0.05 filler item**
**I usually find my filler items in the clearance area.  At the first store, I used $0.05 pencils & at the second store I used $0.25 crocs charms, which bumped up my OOP cost just slightly.
Coupons Used:
(1) $5 RR (from previous transaction)
(1) $1 RR (from previous transaction)
Total Due: approximately $0.04
Get Back: $6 RR

Combined with my Walgreens trip from yesterday, this week I have now spent a total of $17.12 for $230.34 worth of groceries and drugstore merchandise, an average savings of 93% for the week.  I think it is going to be a good day.

Happy Monday!

  1. Excellent, but you could've used the Zarbee's $3.00 coupon to make your OOP even less. I'm not sure if the coupon is still available but I was able to print 2 $3.00 off Zarbee's coupon last week.

  2. Wouldn't that have been an amazing shopping trip? Alas, when I tried to get the $3 Zarbee's coupon yesterday, it was no longer available. Lucky you! :-)
