thursday shopping 11-11-10 (& shopping link-up)

Wow, I think I may have missed my calling as a movie star.  Actually, I'm just kidding.  I don't think I could be more awkward on camera if I tried.  To me the best part about having kids is always getting to be behind the camera and not in front of it.  Nonetheless, for some crazy reason I decided it would be fun to tape my shopping trip today, just so you can see what a coupon shopping adventure with me looks like. Princess was at school but Trouble got to join the fun.  (And a big thanks to K. for tagging along and holding the camera!)

So after all that, here is what I got:

At Publix I spent $44.14 on $142.57 worth of groceries, a savings of 69%.  I got a lot of free things today, but I also splurged on a few things that weren't on sale or that I didn't have coupons for.

Coupons Used:
(4) $0.50 off Vigo Rice (Red Plum insert, 10/3)
(2) $1 off 2 Nestle Toll House Morsels (printable here)
(4) $1 off BirdsEye Voila (Publix Harvest of Savings booklet)
$1 off 2 ReddiWhip products (October All You magazine)
$1 off 2 Kraft Stove Top Stuffing (printable here)
(3) Free Sabra Hummus (received in mail from HouseParty.com)
1 Free Stacy's Pita Chips (received in mail from HouseParty.com)
(2) $4 off Wholly Guacamole (no more prints available; my store would only accept $2.99 value)
(1) $1 off Produce (Target coupon; no more prints available)
(1) Free Hass Avocado (printable here)
(1) $0.90 off Glory Food Products (printable here)
(2) $5 off 5 Kraft Dairy Products (no more prints available)
(1) $1 off 2 Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese (Target coupon, no more prints available)
(2) $1 off 2 Kraft Cheese products (Target coupon, printable here)
(2) $1 off 2 Kraft Singles (Target coupon, printable here)
(1) $1 off 2 Eggo Waffles (printable here)
(4) $0.50 off Maruchan Yakisoba (Smart Source insert, 10/10)
(4) $1 off V8 Fusion Tea (Smart Source insert 10/3)

Combined with my shopping results from Sunday, this week I spent $63.88 for $325.19 worth of groceries and drugstore merchandise, an average savings of 80% for the week.

Now it's your turn to share.  Link up your shopping results below (leave a comment after linking up) or simply leave a comment below telling how you did this week.  Did you have any big scores?  Frustrations?  Questions?  It is great to learn from others' experiences!

Have a great weekend!

  1. I can't tell you how much I LOVE reading your blog. Yours is the FIRST blog that I've followed and I look forward to it everyday. Thanks for always being so honest and helpful. I think you are an inspiration to all the moms out there! Have a great day. :)

  2. p.s. LOVED the video!!! Thanks for sharing!

  3. How fun!! Thanks for sharing with us. And thanks for the linky.

  4. Enjoyed my visit Ÿ Keep up the great blog.

  5. So you can use a manufacturers coupon & a target coupon together?

  6. Yes, like a store coupon, a Target coupon can be stacked with a manufacturer's coupon for double savings. And at Publix they will usually let you use a store Q, competitor's Q, and a MF's Q all on one item (if you are lucky enough to have all 3).

But be careful, because sometimes the coupons that come off of Target's site are actually manufacturer's coupons (it will say on the top.) If it says "Target Web Coupon" on the top, it is a store coupon.

  7. Where did you find wholly products? I couldn't find them in my store and i asked about where i could find them but they told me they hadn't heard about the product.

  8. The Wholly products are in the deli area. In my store they are in the refrigerated case right in front of the deli meat area, next to the hummus.

  9. Okay first off, I did not notice any awkwardness.. so you hid that very well 80) And secondly.. I thought that was awesome to watch you do your grocery shopping! And congrats on your great savings!!!

  10. Thank you so much for visiting my site and inviting me to link up, and I'm excited to now know about your site! I will be following you on FB too :) I love a great site. Don't you love being able to 'splurge' now and it doesn't effect your budget at all! It's the best thing.

  13. thanks so much for posting a video, sometimes its nice to actually "see" what great deals others can get..Im just getting started w/this, but seem to be doing good also! and also thanks for including your daughter, makes me feel alittle better knowing having your kiddos w/you can be challanging ...ha ha

  14. Hello, Thanks for the invite last night. I linked.

    Have a great day!

  15. I have a question about the free Avocado coupon. Is that one a copy or do they ever give you trouble with it? I just wondered since it is in PDF form. Thanks! That would be cool to be able to get one til the end of the year!

  16. I have never had an issue using the avocado coupon. The original coupon was in PDF form, so I just saved it to my computer and print it each time I need it. I go to the same Publix every week and use it every time (it has gotten to be a running joke with some of the cashiers), and I would think if there was a problem with it, they would've said something to me by now. I was a little worried the first time, so I went to the website on the coupon and printed the coupon redemption policy and brought it along with me to the store.

  17. Excellent idea! Thanks so much! Does yours print huge? It takes up the entire page when I print.

  18. You're welcome! And yes, mine does print huge. But it always scans just fine, so I'll take it! :-)

  19. I miss those $5/5 Kraft coupons... *sigh*
